About
Welcome to Hotel Restaurant Hostal del Carme, a hidden gem nestled in the picturesque surroundings of Vilagrassa, Spain. Located conveniently along Carretera N-II, this charming establishment combines the warmth of hospitality with classic Catalan culinary offerings, making it an ideal retreat for both weary travelers and discerning food enthusiasts. With a commitment to cleanliness and comfort, guests rave about the impeccably kept rooms and the attentive, friendly staff who elevate your stay into a genuine welcoming experience.
One of the standout features of Hostal del Carme is its dedication to traditional Catalan cuisine. With delectable meat-focused dishes that celebrate the region's rich gastronomic heritage, the restaurant has become a favorite among meat lovers. Swiftly opposing this notion, there's also a notable fish option – bacalao – which promises to please those in search of lighter fare. Customers consistently remark on the high quality of the food, with one diner mentioning how each dish feels refined without a hint of pretentiousness.
The atmosphere at Hostal del Carme carries a lovely blend of vintage charm and modern cleanliness that makes dining here feel special. Guests, such as Josh Levent, have noted that the establishment features two dining venues—each with its own unique appeal, offering a spectrum of experiences to suit various occasions. From the more casual atmosphere by the entrance to the refined dining setting toward the back, your culinary journey here is expertly catered to, no matter how you choose to indulge.
The breakfast offerings, while described as "ad hoc," are still enjoyable, and many patrons find themselves looking forward to the first meal of the day. Not only do the food and comfort stand out, but the attention to detail extends through the whole experience. As A J shares, the dining experience feels personal, with warm and genuinely thoughtful service complimenting the array of well-prepared, flavorful dishes.

“ Great hotel, great breakfast, great service. Best value for money you could find on your way to Barcelona ! ”
“ Very nice restaurant. Traditional Catalan cuisine. There are actually two restaurants next to each other. The cheaper one by the entrance and the more expensive one deeper into the building past the bar on the right. It's on the more expensive end of good restaurants, but by my single experience well worth the price. The cuisine is local and executed at a very high level without becoming pretentious. Highly recommend. ”
“ No problems with this hotel whatsoever. Beautifully clean room and friendly staff. You need to be a meat eater for the restaurant, but it is the north of Spain so not really a surprise. One fish option: bacalao. Breakfast quite ad hoc, but enjoyable. The church in Vilagrassa is a joy with its leaning tower. Worth a short detour. Volveremos!! ”
“ This is a lovely Spanish hotel where we have stopped twice on our journey to our apartment near Girona. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff are excellent, rooms very comfortable in fact can't find fault in anything. Will stay there again in the future. ”
“ First time here during my visit in some orchards in the region and inward surprised of the very friendly and funny stuff. Hotel have a cool vintage Charme and the kitchen is great. Every cent worth to stay here. Rooms also clean and comfortable. Market on my travel points for the future. Gracies ”
“ This place has a quiet, old-fashioned charm that made it feel welcoming rather than worn. Some parts are dated, but everything was immaculately clean, and the beds were incredibly comfortable with crisp, fresh linens. The bathroom had been recently renovated and was spotless. We thought about heading out for dinner but decided to stay in—and it was absolutely the right choice. The food was far from diner-style. The menu featured well-prepared, flavourful dishes that felt refined without being pretentious. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful, making the whole experience feel personal. We are travelling through Europe for five months, and this was a lovely find—a must-stop if you are in the area. ”
